Synopsis

Review

Who knew that über-serious filmmaker David Lewis (Redwoods, Rock Haven) not only had a great sense of humor but ended up making the funniest, wildest, gay sex comedy since Another Gay Movie!

The setting is a Texas college, circa 1982 - where big hair, loud shirts and cowboy boots are considered high fashion. Here, men are men, women are just future wives (or current sluts), and there is nothing gay about helping a guy out!

Good ol’ fratboy Kevin (Jacob Newton) is as straight as an arrow (if you don’t count the gay fantasies he enjoys while fucking his girlfriend, or the fact that he jerks off his fellow frat brothers every now and then), but he begins to see things a little queerly when he meets the sexy, openly gay César (Derek Efrain Villanueva). Can a straight guy fall for another dude? Can Kevin continue going down on his old pal (Dylan Vox) under the belief that it is just fratboy hijinks? Will kissing César change him forever?

Never has a film featured so many straight men doing so many gay things. Beer is guzzled, pants are dropped and playful bed-hopping ensues. Fast, fun and sexy – what more could you want from a film?

If you want a movie filled with muscle daddies, tons of sex and nudity...keep looking. If you want a fun, simple fluff story with attractive young men, a simple plot and brief glimpses full frontal nudity this is it. Will Longhorns go down in the "Gay Cinema Hall of Fame", I don't think so, but all in all it was a fun movie.

You could spend words upon words to explain why longhorns is a bad bad movie yet, why would you waste the time? Perhaps because dissecting the path to such a pointless movie making effort may be the best way of clarifying its worthless nature. The setting, a gloomy, horrifically bad styled 80’s, why? No reasons. The story, not one, the acting? Pitiful and sad, gloomy and inept. A must to be asked question, why so many gay-based movies have to be appallingly bad? Possibly because there will always be some "critic", of course obscure, that will have praising words for it!

I bought this DVD. Since this cute story isn't rated, I guess I was expecting more. I put the remote in another room to prevent me from fast forwarding through the whole production. Why is the gay man the most unusual looking, yawn...Dylan Vox should have been the lead. If you have 74 minutes you can waste, thank god it was the uncut version, can you imagine if they cut out the penises....

Surprising sweetness at the heart of this sex comedy

Longhorns is marketed as a sex comedy set in the '80's -sort of a gay Porky's. And there's lots of horny college boys jerking off and helping each other out. But there is a very pleasant surprise when the viewer finds himself caring about these characters, and the characters find themselves caring deeply about each other. It's a touching, light romp. Great score by HP Mendoza too - the songs sound authentically out of the '80's (all created and recorded by HP himself, man of many talents). Highly recommended.
